Rhythms of Matter

We open the 2026 series of Rhythms of Matter with an architect whose work speaks through silence, light, and subtraction.

We are honored to welcome Manuel Aires Mateus to Tirana, joining us from Lisbon for an open talk titled “Beauty After All / Beleza Apesar de Tudo”—following the recent opening of the exhibition by Manuel and Francisco Aires Mateus at the fundacao_serralves, Porto.

The talk will reflect on the spatial investigations, ideas, and questions developed by the Aires Mateus studio over the past twenty years, where matter is reduced, void becomes structure, and beauty emerges quietly, despite everything.

This third encounter continues our shared conversation on rhythm, architecture, and everyday life, adding another layer to the dialogue we are building together.
