Periodic Meeting of BRIGAID in Tirana

The National Territory Planning Agency (NTPA) – as the Albanian partner of BRIGAID – had a busy October with a series of activations that involved all participants of the Project. The regular BRIGAID meeting was the main event, complete with two different experiences.

The Afternoon with BRIGAID Actors in Albania – Huddling Together for Climate workshop was organized on October 23th, with Mrs. Adelina Greca, Director of National Territory Planning Agency, thanking the leaders and partners of the project for their support and their presence in Albania. The participants included the Ambassador of Netherlands in Albania, Mrs. Guusje Korthals Altes, representatives of donors in Albania that deal with climate change such as GIZ and UNDP, as well as actors and collaborators of the project – all of them discussing about climate change and their issues, under the light of innovations and their further development. Leaders and partners of the project presented the progress of BRIGAID until nowadays, and for the first time introduced the plans for the future of BRIGAID while taking into consideration the multitude of alternative solutions offered by the project to face natural disasters, the team of experts in testing areas, and other factors.

The Innovation Fair was organized on October 24th, displaying national and international innovations that are supported by BRIGAID. The Ambassador of Netherlands in Albania and leaders of BRIGAID congratulated the participants for their excellent work. The Minister of State for Entrepreneurship Protection, Mr. Eduard Shalsi, emphasized the importance of such projects and the support on part of Albanian government. Then the innovators had the opportunity to demonstrate their ideas and application to the visitors.

During the last day, all participants enjoyed a field visit, to see for themselves the implementation of two projects enabled by BRIGAID. After all is said and done, the biggest challenge yet lies ahead – further progress of BRIGAID Project!

BRIGAID / AKPT- Second National Meeting on the Progress and Continuity of the BRIGAID Project AID

The Albanian partner of the BRIGAID project, NTPA, organized in the framework of the World Environment Day on June 5th, 2018, the Second National Meeting on the Progress and Continuity of the BRIGAID Project in Albania.

The meeting was honored by the presence of the Dutch Ambassador, Mrs. Deewi van de Weerd, the representative of the TU Delft project leader, Mrs.Marjan Krejins and Mr. Gerardo Anzaldua, leader of the sixth package of work; responsible for market evaluation on innovations.

In this meeting were invited representatives of line ministries, representatives of various private and state universities, research scientists and companies closely related to innovation. The Brigaid Project with the objective to assist the Environment with alternative/creative solutions such as Innovations; in this meeting focused on the wide range of innovations offered by the Albanian innovator as well as the other partners of the project.

In this meeting was also presented the third call of the project, the last one for innovations. An opportunity to show that innovations are a necessary solution for leading institutions, those who manage emergency situations, for universities so they can create a new methodology in their curricula, as well as for researchers to become part of BRIGAID.

The meeting was concluded with the interest of the leader of this project, the Dutch Technical University (TuDelft) to support the Albanian innovations in the project in this third call; interest was also shown by the representative of the sixth package of work, who underlined that a market such as Albania has the power to use innovations and the potential for their creation.

The meeting aroused the interest of participants for the upcoming call as well as the desire to approach more alternative solutions for overcoming natural disasters.

 

 

First National Meeting for Building the Stakeholders’ Network, BRIGAID Project

On 21 April 2017, in Tirana Albania, the National Territorial Planning Agency organised the First National Meeting for building BRIGAID project stakeholders’ network, which will support and contribute in project innovation ideas from the beginning till their implementation.

One BRIGAID partner attended, Thetis SPA, which presented “The Toolkit Method (TM), from the safeguard of Venice to a general approach for the protection of urban historical settlements from flooding”. The meeting highlighted the project objective and end user benefits being part of this initiative. 

The meeting concluded with questions and interests of the stakeholders for a further collaboration on behalf of BRIGAID project. Specifically, the stakeholders showed their contribution and development opportunities, but with no real innovation ideas. For instance, stakeholders responsible for database networks or digital platforms showed their possibility to support with existing data and available to create new ones. While end users showed their necessity in conformity of our national civil emergency and solution to solve these emergencies, as well as they request for an authority right reserve for innovation ideas coming out on behalf of this project.
