Atelier Albania Summer Academy takes place within the framework of implementing the National General Territorial Plan as well as the local planning process of the Municipalities of Këlcyrë, Kolonjë and Përmet. Focusing on Vjosa valley, the scope of this research is to highlight the touristic potentials of the region and point out the projects or activities that can be developed along this territory in order to increase the touristic flows while efficiently making use of the natural and cultural resources of the region.
Methodology: The Atelier Albania team (lead researcher, project assistant, five student researchers) conducted a study over a five week time frame that explored the touristic potentials of the region. The work was divided by two weeks spent in the field, and three weeks based in Tirana.
The team performed the following tasks:
- Fact Finding: Throughout the first phase the students had the task of gathering information with the scope of highlighting the touristic potentials of the region.
- Drafting project-ideas: The selected students performed the task of data interpretation and the further elaboration of these materials in order to prepare them for publication (text writing and graphical representation).
- Performing all tasks assigned to by the senior Researcher and the Research Assistant as a student researcher /workshop participant .

Final Product: The final product of AASA ’17 is a publication that contains these two main pillars:
a. a network of cultural and touristic activities to attract visitors and enhance the year-round touristic potential of the region;
b. project-proposals of an acupunctural character in the landscape in order to enhance the typical features of the region.
